The Arizona Tax Credit for Donations to Independent Schools
Arizona allows you to redirect your state tax dollars, at no cost to you, towards scholarships for Kino students.
What can I contribute?
An Arizona tax credit is allowed for contributions to
school tuition organizations. Up to $1000 is allowed
for married couples filing jointly and $500 for individuals
or married individuals filing separately.
How does this work?
A tax credit is subtracted directly from the income
tax withheld or owed to the state, reducing your state
taxes dollar for dollar. This is not a deduction!
When you make your donation of up to $1000 (any
amount will help Kino) via check or credit card, you will
receive a letter from the school tuition organization
for use when you file your tax return. Donations can
be made throughout the year, but must be made by
December 31 to qualify for a tax year.
You will file your Arizona state return knowing you
have directed your tax dollars to helping qualified students with financial needs attend Kino.
Why am I not contributing directly to Kino?
All scholarship tax credit contributions must be made
through a school tuition organization, a tax exempt
(501(c)(3)) organization that allocates at least 90% of
its annual revenues to scholarships for students attending
private schools. Kino works through the Arizona
Scholarship Fund, which is such a school tuition organization.
Do I need to know a child at Kino to help?
No, you do not. Anyone paying Arizona personal income taxes can receive a credit for contributing to
Kino via the Arizona Scholarship Fund.
Can I also donate to public schools?
Yes, you can! Arizona allows a tax credit for donations to public
schools as well as private. You can take advantage of
both ways to help students.
Can I donate using my credit card?
Yes, you can! Just go to www.azscholarships.org. Once there, from the menu on the left click Donate Now. After filling in your donor information and going to the next screen, fill in the recommendation box:

the school at 297-7278 and we will take your credit
card donation over the telephone, or you can request a form to fill and mail in. Simple!
